Anahit Hakobyan (49) is a single woman dreaming of a decent home. She lives in the city of Ijevan and works in Ijevan branch of Yerevan State University as a lecturer of applied arts. The house she owns is a heritage from her parents. It has a history of 45 years. Anahit’s parents had always longed for a life in a simple and decent home but did not manage to realize their ambition. And now she is very happy to have this unique opportunity to make her parents’ dream come true.
The house was last renovated in 1978 and needs inner renovation. It is very humid. The ceiling has cracks and the bathroom unit is to be renovated urgently.
“Indeed, Habitat made a significant change in my life. I am looking forward to enjoy my renovated home with my heart beating fast. I am very happy to have the opportunity to turn my parents’ dream into reality,” Anahit says, “Still I don’t imagine that very soon I will be living in better housing conditions,” she adds.
Anahit earns minimum wage at the University and has no secondary income. She obviously could not afford any loans though she had applied to many banks and other organizations cherishing hopes for exceptions. She was very surprised to be selected to partner with Habitat and start the renovation in a very short period of time. The affordable loan provided by Habitat will soon make a difference in Anahit’s life.
