*Habitat Armenia and Nor Horizon lending partnership provides 35 families in Spitak with decent shelter - March, 2010 - HTML

On March 5, 2010, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Habitat for Humanity Armenia and Nor Horizon Universal Credit Organization, LLC. Thanks to its new lending partnership with Nor Horizon, Habitat Armenia will offer affordable home improvement loans to families in Spitak.

* Habitat for Humanity Armenia - November 2, 2009- HFH Armenia had a meeting with Archbishop Vicken Aykazian
HFH Armenia welcomed Archbishop Vicken Aykazian, legate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of America and Habitat for Humanity’s international board member, in its offices on November 2, 2009. The meeting discussed the progress of Habitat Armenia program. The Archbishop restated his full support for the growth of the program in servitude of families suffering from poverty housing in Armenia.

Habitat for Humanity Armenia participated in a round table titled "Planning our urban future," devoted to World Habitat Day and with the aim of bringning the issues of substandard housing throughout the country on the table of discussions. The round table was organized by the RA Ministry of Urban Development.

'After two decades of suffering from poverty housing, the Stepanyans now have a decent place to call home. This summer, the family teamed up with a group of volunteers brought in by Habitat Armenia to finish building their modest home.

'Archbishop Vicken Aykazian, legate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of America and Habitat for Humanity’s international board member, visited offices of Habitat Armenia on Tuesday, August 18, 2009.

The visit was dedicated to the discussion of recent programs and activities of Habitat for Humanity in Armenia. The Archbishop reiterated his full support for the organization’s mission to eliminate poverty housing throughout Armenia.

'On July 15, 2009, Habitat for Humanity Armenia team took part in the 20th anniversary celebrations of the rebirth of Spitak, the epicenter of the 1988 devastating earthquake. Spitak is the town, where HFH Armenia is preparing to launch the pilot phase of its upcoming major project will provide ten families living in temporary shelters or in dire housing conditions with decent starter homes.

'October 6 is United Nations World Habitat Day, which calls attention to the state of human settlements and the basic need for adequate shelter for all. The archbishop, local and international volunteers, organizers and villagers, were at the village hall of Nshavan on a bright autumn day to relaunch Habitat for Humanity in Armenia and help change the lives of families forever.'
